Chapter FOUR - Rejected but needed by the Alpha - bukola (2024)

Asher’s POV.

I was lost in thought the moment that Kade walked in, that I didn’t even notice his arrival.

“Asher!!” He screamed loudly, and that seemed to make me jolt back to reality, the moment I realized I wasn’t the only one in the room again.

“You?” I asked with widened eyes—

“When did you get here?” I asked, with creased brows.

“Asher—what’s going on?” He stared at me suspiciously and I groaned.

Kade was my best friend and my beta. He’s also someone who has managed to have my back on different occasions.

He was sent abroad by me to check most of my companies and how well they are doing, but seeing him here—meant he came back.....

“When did you come back?” I asked again, purposely ignoring his questions.

He just got back, and I wouldn’t want to start by informing him about everything that happened in the pack.

“Just now—I wanted to surprise you,” Kade said with a smile, and somehow—a smile crept on my lips.

“So back to my question—Asher, what’s going on...” He asked with a very strict look.

“It’s Alpha Asher—” I corrected, even when I was already aware of what his response would be.

He simply rolled his eyes, “Alpha Asher my foot,” He said as he chuckled.

“But I’m being serious right now, what’s going on, Asher?”

“Did anything happen when I was away?” He asked and I groaned.

I didn’t want to tell him about anything—at least not now!

That was the moment I noticed something and my mouth dropped open.

“What is it?” He glared at me, but I pointed at his hair.

“Did you dye it?” I asked him the moment I got my voice back.

The normal color of Kade’s hair is blonde, but what I was seeing that moment was a red hair which brought out his handsomeness—and it made him drip.

“Yes sure,” He replied still giving me a look of, ‘No matter how you’re trying to change the topic, I’ll still remember it,’

I heaved deeply, knowing that he had caught me—I had no other choice than to tell him.

“I found my mate,” I said, and he gasped loudly with a look of excitement on his face.

“Are you serious?” He asked with a surprised look on his face.

“Yes—” I simply answered.

“So that mate selection event worked?” He asked—because he was solely the one behind the idea.

“I’m so happy for you, after how many years of staying without a mate——” He was saying when he suddenly trailed off.

“Asher,” He called, and I turned to look at him—still thinking on how to break the news to him.

“If that’s the case—why are you now worried?” He asked with furrowed brows that I had to sigh loudly.

“Yes—I found my mate, but I rejected her,” I broke the news, and he stood dazed in a spot still trying to process the news.

“You did what, Asher?” He couldn’t believe his ears, and I was ready for what he was going to say.

“After staying how many years without a mate, you finally found her—but what did you do?” He asked, getting angry, but I just sighed.

“I’m not ready Kade—she’s not even my type of lady and I honestly believe that it was a mistake by the Moon Goddess,” I said, and I noticed he clenched his fists, and shut his eyes tightly.

“Kade you need to calm down, but there’s no way——” I was still saying when he interrupted me loudly.

“ASHER!!!!!!!!” He growled angrily, and that was enough to make me go mute.

I never for once, liked making Kade angry because he’s just like the only person I allowed into my life—so seeing him angry that moment made me feel terrible.

“What did you tell her, Asher, and don’t tell me you said all these hurtful words to her?” He asked and I sighed deeply…

“Well I did, and I don’t regret it one bit,” I said boldly, and he looked taken aback for a second.

It’s my life, and I didn’t like the fact that Kade was trying to dictate it for me.

“You should have seen her, Kade, and I can bet it that you won’t like her at all,” I said, and he arched his brows and chuckled slightly.

“Is she crippled?” He asked and I shook my head…

“Blind?” I still shook my head.

“Dumb?” I repeated the same thing, but this time wondering where the conversation was headed.

“So what made you hate her if she doesn’t possess any of these?” He asked, and I heaved deeply…

This was the particular question I’ve been waiting for, and it’s time he hears my reason.

“She’s ugly, she’s not my type of woman….” I was saying when he interrupted me.

“Asher… who are your types of ladies because you keep mentioning that she’s not your type of woman?” He asked, and I hissed and continued with what I was saying.

“The last but not the least is that she’s an omega,” I added, and he gasped immediately.

“Wha..what??!” He gasped in shock, as his mouth fell open.

“Yes,”

“Coupled with the fact that she was also blamed for her parent's disappearance,” I said, and he furrowed his brows.

“Disappearance?!! In this city?” He exclaimed in shock and I nodded.

“Wait, it seems like I know the person—” He suddenly said, and I quickly stared at him with keen interest.

“She’s petite and beautiful,” He said slowly with a snap of his fingers.

I silently rolled my eyes, “She’s petite but not beautiful,” I groaned tiredly, tired of explaining it to him.

“I was the one they reported the case to, and I tried everything within my power to find her parents,” Kade groaned, but I suddenly sighed deeply.

“But—” I trailed off, and he quickly looked up to glance at me.

“What’s it?” He arched his brows.

“The rejection wasn’t official—like it wasn’t sealed,” I said, and his eyes widened immediately.

“How?”
