Custom neon signs are an excellent way to express your style and add personality to any space. However, with so many customization options, it can be challenging to know where to start. In this blog post, we will cover everything you need to know about custom neon signs, from designing your text to selecting the right installation options.

Write Your Text

The first step is to decide what you want your neon sign to say. This can be a phrase, a quote, a business name, or anything you like. Before submitting your order, make sure to double-check your spelling and punctuation.

Uploading Your Design/Image

If you have a specific design or image in mind, you can upload your file directly through the Custom Logo Neon Sign page. Ensure that your file is of high quality and accepts any file format.

We can replicate your logo, print it on the backboard, and then make and install the neon tubes of the logo on the printed backboard.

If your neon sign design is unique and complex, you can also fill out the "Get a Quote" form to receive a free quote and model image. Our design service is free until you're satisfied.

Choose a Font

The font you choose will significantly impact the appearance of your sign. You can select from traditional serif fonts to more modern, fun fonts. You can also specify a particular font by entering the font name or URL link to the font in the order notes.

Choose a Color

Neon signs are known for their vibrant, bold colors, so take the time to consider which color will work best for your space. You can choose from a variety of colors, including lemon yellow, turquoise, light pink, golden yellow, green, red, purple, blue, hot pink, deep green, tomato, warm white, white, ice blue, and orange. Additionally, we offer a full-color change function, allowing you to change the color to a specific shade or cycle through various colors, with hundreds to choose from.

From a designer's perspective, we suggest using a combination of colors in your custom neon sign to make it more vibrant and eye-catching. Although these signs may not have the ability to change colors, the blend of different colors creates a stunning and dynamic effect. Our design service for personalized neon signs is free of charge, so you can let us know in the order notes which parts of your sign you want to customize and their corresponding colors.

Custom Neon Signs: Your Ultimate Guide to Making the Right Choice (1)

Choosing a Size

The size of the sign will depend on where you plan to display it. Measure the space carefully to ensure the sign is an appropriate size.

Color of Neon Tubes When Turned Off

This option allows you to choose what color the light tube will be when your sign is turned off. You can choose colored tubes that matches the neon lights or white tubes.
From a designer's perspective, White neon tubes can showcase various neon colors more transparently, and the white tube when closed will not interfere with any decorative style. Although colored neon tubes can still display the shape of text or graphics when turned off, they may appear blurry or fuzzy when lit up, especially in blue or green.

Choosing a Backboard

You have three backboard options: Without Backboard, Cut to Shape, and Cut to Rectangle/Square. The backboard type you choose will depend on how you plan to display your sign. From a designer's perspective, Without Backboard is the ideal choice as no backboard is visible on the wall, and no excess material will cover up the beautiful wall or wallpaper, only the simple neon tube.

Power Options

You can choose between Plug-in and Plug-in or AA Battery Operated. If you choose the battery option, you don't have to worry about finding a power socket to power your sign. Furthermore, even if you choose AA Battery Operated, you can switch your sign to plug-in at any time, and the Battery Operated accessory is free.

Plug Type

Different countries and regions have different plug types. This option allows you to customize the plug type to match the standard of your country. We will automatically deliver the plug type that matches your local standard based on the shipping address by default.

Power Cord and Extension Cord Color

You can choose between transparent, black, or white power cords and extension cords. Consider which color will best fit your space.

Dimmer Switch with On/Off Switch

You can choose between Inline Dimmer and Wireless Remote Control options to adjust the brightness of your neon sign. Both come with an on/off switch function. If you choose the Inline Dimmer, you never have to worry about losing the dimmer.

Installation Options

You can choose between Transparent Command Strips, Wall Mounted, and Hanging Mounted options. Consider which option is best for your space. The Transparent Command Strips option does not require drilling and will not damage the wall, but will still leave tiny installation holes (2 mm or 1/16 in.) for easy switching to the Wall Mounted option.

The Wall Mounted option uses 2 mm(1/16 in.)micro decorative copper nails to fix your neon sign, which are very beautiful as they have a diameter of only 2mm and are almost invisible on the wall. Suitable accessories are included in the package for both wooden board and concrete wall surfaces. For neon signs over 6 feet in size, 5 mm (3/16 in.) diameter stainless steel sign standoffs are included as a bonus.

The Hanging Mounted option includes a stainless steel chain for hanging the neon sign anywhere and a hanging kit for hanging from the ceiling or in front of a glass showcase, which includes two stainless steel ropes and two hanging hooks. You can adjust the length of the hanging ceiling ropes as needed.

Indoor and Outdoor options

In terms of appearance, there is no difference between indoor and outdoor signs, but the neon tubes for outdoor signs have Waterproof and Rainproof features, making them more durable in humid areas. Yes, this feature is still free. We only use the best materials to make neon signs.
