You need to buy the battery kit for $299 and get the impact wrench as a bonus. Next return the battery and charger for a refund of $179.52. It's a low-mid torque range model with 300 lb*ft tightening and 450 lb*ft breakaway torque which is more than enough for a tire change on most cars and SUVs.

Bought it for ~$250 after tax when it first came out (and already a discounted price)
Used it for tire change only though

I love that it is pretty powerful even with 2Amp battery given the compact size and light weight of such combo. Just in time for the winter tire change!

I've never done the return before. Does home depot not ask any questions? Or are they okay with this? And, for someone who doesn't know much about impact wrenches, how good is this wrench?

It's YMMV but the majority of stores and associates don't care. Best tip is when you are returning don't even give them the original receipt, just show them the barcode on the emailed receipt (make sure you use the email receipt feature at checkout). Then they just scan one thing, scan the other, and boom you have the refund of the RV for that part of the promo.
IMO it's not really kosher to post deals like this saying the tool is "$119.48" when there's a promo and return hack involved but that's what OP has done. Instead what should happen is the promo gets posted and then the RVs can be mentioned/posted there after.
The actual promo here is "buy the Powder Stack + Charger battery kit and get a tool free". After that everything is RVs.
For a more in depth explanation of return trick or hack at HD see here:

As for the tool the DCF921 is an awesome compact impact wrench--it's basically one of the best cordless compacts out there. It's essentially the 20V version of the 12V DCF901 (one of which I sold recently). The 921 is a little more powerful but then it doesn't have the nice compact/lighter weight batteries the 12V model does. Though if you use the 921 with a 1.7Ah Powder Stack, you're basically getting peak powder out of it with as compact a battery you can have on it at the same time.

Interesting, I should buy at Home Depot more often and pay close attention to to the item max return value
Thanks!

Thanks, Ill grab this as this would be my first impact wrench. Also, why did you get rid of yours? All I plan to do is tire change for now. But who knows, maybe down the line, I will want to tinker with other things, so I worry that it might be too weak and I end up having to buy a stronger tool, which equals more money.
Edit- I see 3 versions of impact wrench available DCF922B, DCF921B, DCF923B. What the hell? What's the difference between 21 and 22? It says hog ring and pin detent on google, but I have no clue the advantages of one over the other. Nvm, I got it lol.

I am in the mostly Milwaukee ecosystem (M18) but missed their past impact wrench deals and right now that stuff is too expensive.
I do have a Dewalt work light as well as a 5ah battery and charger (got for really cheap a year back in another deal so couldn’t ignore, heh), is this a good option vs M18 fuel 1/2 wrench?

For a first impact wrench I'd usually say a mid-torque is the way to go but these are so good they're basically up there with some of the lesser/older mid torques so really I don't think you'll be disappointed with it at all.
As for "why I sold mine"...so the thing is I buy a lot of tools lol My personal impacts are almost all Ridgid--have two compacts, a mid-torque, and the high-torque, all basically the "older gen" versions now but totally competent and fine for me. Have the M12 right-angle but I plan on selling that off once the Ridgid one goes for a good deal in the US (the 1/2" actually is on promo there right now but I want the 3/8" so I'll have to wait for the next one).
So yeah I just kind of "ended up with" the DeWalt because I got it on a deal as I needed DeWalt 12V-platform batteries. I never even used the DCF901 I just sold it, brand new. It would have been better than the 1st gen Ridgid SubCompact I have/use but better is really just relative--it's not like my Ridgid doesn't do everything I've ever needed it to do. The Ridgid has been a superstar in its own right and I paid like $70 CAD for it I simply didn't need another compact. As that particular [DeWalt 12V] deal was not a Home Depot deal I couldn't do any kind of "return hack" on the tool or anything so I just sold it on kijiji.

I have a DCF887 20V MAX* XR 1/4 in. that is torque rated at 150 lb-ft. Is it enough for tire change (with a 1/2 adapter) or is it worth buying this tool too considering it'll be only for tire change? Ty

It's better than the M12 Stubby and M18 Compact (which are pretty similar to one another in performance). It will not be nearly as powerful as the M18 Fuel mid-torque like the 2962 but DeWalt's competitor to that, the DCF891, is actually significantly better than the M18. See DeWalt relatively recently released new models which is how they've got some really good automotive tools now, both in their 12V and 20V lineups. Their older offerings were usually trumped by Milwaukee but the tables have kind of turned...for now. Also note that mentioned DCF891 is actually in the realm of high-torque performance but is actually a mid-torque-class (size/weight) gun.
So if you've got DeWalt 20V and Milwaukee M18, you're in a good place to get some very good impact wrenches but just be aware there's different classes of tool. You can't really expect a compact to go up against a mid-torque or a mid-torque to go up against a high-torque. There's some overlap and "blurred lines" with some of the really good tools but for the most part you'll want to "pick the right tool for the job". With the DCF921 you can kind of get away with having it as your only one depending on needs/use, because it's pretty darn impressive; but it's still not quite up there with most of the current high-tier mid-torque tools.

Not sure you can try another browser maybe but... Remember if you plan on doing return trick to get the tool for cheap, you CANNOT make the purchase online, you must make it in-store.

I just chatted with a rep. They say that the deal only works if the stock is online and not from the store, it can't even be delivered from the store. I guess this is their way to prevent people doing this trick? Have they caught on? LOL. Oh well, I will try a different browser.
Edit- No go with other browser. I guess deal wasn't ever live in the first place.

Where are you actually located? (Yeah yeah I see in a pineapple under the sea lol, but seriously...)
This deal actually is in-store I'm pretty sure--was just there today and I'm pretty sure it was there. As long as both items are sold in-store and in-stock at the store you go to, it should work.
You are correct that in Canada, if any part of a promo is "online only"--either a particular component that you're interested in OR the entire deal, it circumvents using the "return hack" on it. (In the US it works online too but not here.)
However I don't believe this is true in this case; but you should check your local store(s) to see if the promo is there. Some of the promos actually even say "online only" on the website but you go to the store and there the exact same thing is, clear as day...

Thanks clearing my confusion. I'm heading there now. Worst case scenario, I waste some time and get some fresh air, lol.

How does this manage with truck tires?
I was going to wait for a deal on the mid torque 892, but at this price if it can handle most of the DIY stuff it will be enough.

you can only do the trick in store.

Not sure what of management you'd be doing with it and truck tyres? Running it over?
If you mean wheel lugs... Did you mean a pickup truck or a commercial truck/tractor? If you're talking about a commercial truck, it's not really appropriate.
If we're talking about a pickup truck and lugs that were NOT previously aired on and/or rusted on real good (i.e. lugs that were installed with a torque wrench and haven't been on there for years) then it should do fine.
The DCF891/892 is in a whole other realm of performance so I don't think the 921 is any kind of substitute for that. That's like asking if you should get a Ridgeline instead of an F250, lol.

Should I wait for that then?? Lol. I'm at home depot right now and debating. Is there a reason I should pick this compact one? I'm in a conflict right now lol.
