Can you see detailed text messages on an AT&T bill? ›

FYI: Wireless usage including call, text, and data history is available for up to 16 billing periods. The content of text or video messages isn't visible or accessible to anyone on the account. How do I add usage details to my paper bill?

Open your phone's Settings app. Internet. Next to your carrier, tap Settings . At the top you'll see how much total data you use.

The data logs in your online account are not in real time. The only real time record of data usage is on the phone itself. AT&T data logs record data when it's posted which could be 3 hours to 3 days after actual use. Data is sometimes batched and sometimes posted in small amounts.

Log into your wireless account usage summary. Select your account and the billing dates. Choose the usage you want to view: Data, Text, Talk, or Mobile purchases. Select the wireless number from the next menu to see the usage for that line.

AT&T doesn't have the content of any text messages between you or anyone else. All you'll get is date/time/phone number of each text. You can get the text logs for the past 16 months through your account online. Beyond that time, you have to call to get bill reprints of earlier text logs.

To see how much cellular data you've used, go to Settings > Cellular or Settings > Mobile Data. If you're using an iPad, you might see Settings > Cellular Data instead. Scroll down to find which apps are using cellular data. If you don't want an app to use cellular data, you can turn it off for that app.

Important Note: AT&T prioritizes user privacy. The account owner cannot view the content of your text messages or the specific websites you visit while using your data.

Select the (+) on the My Digital Phone menu. Select Check or manage voicemail & features from the MyVoicemail & Phone Features menu. Select the Call History tab and go to your AT&T Phone Call Logs page. You can sort your call history by name, length of call, or search for a call.

Your usage is updated every three hours, so checking too soon after texting can give the false impression the message wasn't logged. If you were using wireless roaming, this delay can extend from 2-10 days and very rarely be more than 60 instead.

Data. Includes data transactions rated in Kb. Data usage records include tethering to a PC, downloading music or ringtones, and sending images or files over the internet. Messaging. Includes all messages sent to or from a device, including Short Message Service (SMS) and Multi-Media Service (MMS).

Data Usage

Generally, 5-10 MB per hour for active navigation, depending on the level of detail on the map. However, it's important to note that maps can be downloaded on Wi-Fi for offline use, which uses no mobile data. Route guidance, Traffic updates, etc.

Primary Account Holder's Access

They see incoming and outgoing mobile numbers plus time stamps but not the message content. This is because AT&T, like other providers, respects privacy and doesn't store these details.

AT&T currently stores Your sent and received Messages for up to 90 days. Messages older than 90 days will be deleted from Your Messages cloud storage.

You can recover messages if AT&T Messages Backup and Sync was active on your previous smartphone. Just make sure your new or upgraded smartphone supports AT&T Messages Backup & Sync.
