I have a prepaid plan. I want to see my historical data usage (for example, how many GB of data I used each month over the past 6 months or so) so I can decide if I should switch to a different plan, but I can't seem to find a way to do this! I'd like to know that I used 4.6 GB in January, 7.2 GB in February, and so forth. But when I go to "account history," it only lets me see a 30 day period, and even then it shows a separate line for every single text message, data connection (like visiting a website or checking my email), and mobile hotspot connection, which is totally useless. This seems crazy that there's no way to easily see a summary of my historic usage, cause I'm sure I'm not the only customer that is looking for this. Am I missing something??

Thanks, but I'm afraid this isn't a helpful response. As I mentioned, I've already gone to "account history," and all it shows is a separate, individual line for every single text message, data connection (like visiting a website or checking my email), and mobile hotspot connection, which is not at all useful. I'm looking for a simple summary of how many total GB of data I used in each of my previous billing periods over the last few months. Another AT&T customer service rep just told me that "as it is a prepaid account, which is paid month by month, this information is not recorded because no invoice is generated." Without having access to this historical data, it’s very difficult to decide whether I should stick with my current plan or switch to a different one. I really hope AT&T will consider figuring out a way to record this information for its customers in the future!

Did you follow direction 2?

2. Choose start and end dates - select up to 30 days at a time.

FYI, if using Android, this info is on your phone. All you have to do is set the bill cycle on your phone in settings

Thank you for reaching back out to AT&T Community Forums @jimson8.

We want to include some steps that may help with reviewing your prepaid usage summary. As mentioned above, and by @formerlyknownas the following steps are the option to review your data usage and past usage. You need to belogged into complete these steps.

  • View usage history

    1. At the top of the page, selectAccount History.
    2. Choose start and end dates - select up to 30 days at a time.
    3. Select theHistory Typedrop-down menu to view choices.
    4. SelectSubmitorExport to PDF.

Here is another option to stay updated on your balance and data usage. Dial *777#from your AT&T PREPAID phone to get a text message with your balances. The text will give you your account balance and other account details like your data balance and package info.

Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Thanks, but just to reiterate, when I go to account history, it shows me a separate line for every single text message, data connection (like visiting a website or checking my email), and mobile hotspot connection, which is not at all what I’m looking for. Here’s an example of what I see:

How to check historical data usage | AT&T Community Forums (5)

As I’ve explained, I’m looking for a single summary that I used X GB of data in March, X GB of data in April, and so forth. And no, this sort of historical data is not available on my iPhone as some Android users have suggested. Also, dialing *777# only gives me my current data usage, not historical data from previous billing cycles.

@jimson8

Since I no longer have AT&T prepaid, and don't even remember what the front page looks like. But when you first log into your account at the very top you'll see a row of tabs. One of them I believe says either history or usage.

If you click on that tab oh, it gives you the option to select a range of dates, a beginning date and end date. Those days are to correspond with the beginning of a 30 day and the end of a 30 day cycle. Are you seeing that box which gives you the ability to select dates?

Yes or no?

If the answer is no you are not in the right tab/section

@formerlyknownasYes, I can select a 30 day date range, but as the support representative stated above, AT&T unfortunately does not provide the sort ofusage data I’m looking for when it comes to prepaid plans.

@jimson8

Are you using an android phone?

Androids have this info in settings, data usage, mobile data usage.

Change the dates to match your cycle dates

I've only been using this phone a few weeks, so only can view this and last month. If you used your phone longer it has older records.

@formerlyknownasI’m on an iPhone, so it unfortunately only shows my data usage for the current period. Thanks anyway for the suggestion, though.
