Robert Vaughn dies at age 83

Apparently he had been suffering from leukemia.
Long-time veteran actor. I put this in TV because he's mostly known for his work on The Man from UNCLE even though that was way before the time of most here.

I remember him more for his roles in movies over the years. Was never a leading man, but garnered roles in some notable ones such as The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt, The Towering Inferno, Demon Seed (voice-over), Superman III, among others. Looking at his career, I didn't realize he starred in so many TV movies.
RIP

True he never became a huge star, but he managed to have a 60 year acting career and even worked on a British TV series for 8 seasons.
That's more than most actors these days have accomplished.

I'm an old man so I was able to bask in the acting chops of Robert Vaughn on TV. I, like many others, was a super big fan of his when I was a kid. It was the show to watch. The Napoleon Solo gun (which a lot of the kids in my neighborhood received) was a big Christmas item the first year of the show. During the Halloween season, the Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuriakan Halloween costumes racked up the sales.
Then, the show got more and more silly and then The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. came out and I lost interest.

An awesome actor, a nice guy. BASEketball was his 100th movie and to this day, my wife, a group of friends, and I still quote from that movie all the time, especially from this exchange:
