Star Trek: The Next Generation

1987-1994 | 7 Seasons

A revival of sorts for the “Star Trek” universe following the cancellation of “Star Trek: The Original Series” in 1969, “The Next Generation” is what made the… next generation fall in love with the stories of Gene Roddenberry.

It follows the adventures of the starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) and its crew, led by Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The series explores themes of exploration, diplomacy, and the human condition, as the crew encounters new alien species, navigates political intrigue, and faces moral dilemmas. Iconic characters like Commander Riker, Lieutenant Commander Data, and Lieutenant Worf contribute to the rich narrative and dynamic relationships within the series.

Connected Media:

The story of Jean-Luc Picard and the TNG Crew don’t end here. Four movies followed, “Star Trek Generations”, “Star Trek: First Contact,” “Star Trek: Insurrection,” and “Star Trek: Nemesis.” In 2020, “Star Trek: Picard” premiered on Paramount Plus, following Jean-Luc Picard’s next adventures. Stargate SG-1

1997-2007 | 10 Seasons

Everyone’s 3rd favorite “Star” series after Wars & Trek (or Trek & Wars, whichever you prefer), “SG-1” doesn’t get enough credit for its incredibly imaginative take on traveling the universe and deep lore.

Synopsis:

“Stargate SG-1” follows a team of military personnel and scientists who travel through the Stargate, an ancient device that allows instantaneous travel to other planets. Led by Colonel Jack O’Neill, the team, known as “SG-1,” includes Captain Samantha Carter, Dr. Daniel Jackson, and the Jaffa warrior Teal’c. They explore new worlds, forge alliances, and combat threats, particularly the parasitic Goa’uld and other alien enemies. The series delves into mythology, science fiction, and adventure, expanding the lore of the Stargate universe established in the 1994 film.

Connected Media:

Of course, this is a continuation of the original film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader, meaning “Stargate” should be your first stop before diving into the series. Following the series, the SG-1 story continues with two movies, “Stargate: The Ark of Truth” and “Stargate: Continuum.” There were also two spin-offs, including a direct spin-off in “Stargate: Atlantis.” Another spin-off exists, “Stargate: Universe”, though it was canceled after 2 seasons, left on a cliffhanger.

Where can I stream “Stargate SG-1”?

Both the original movie and the entire 10 seasons can be streamed on PlutoTV.

The animated sci-fi comedy that refuses to stay dead.

WWE Raw

1993- | 30+ Seasons (and Counting!)

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Wrestling isn’t nerdy,” allow me to counter. Highly choreographed fight scenes, supernatural characters fighting normal human warriors, established lore that goes back decades, classic good vs evil rivalries, colorful superhero-esque costumes… I mean, there’s plenty to bridge the gap!

Synopsis:

“WWE Raw,” also known as “Monday Night Raw,” is a professional wrestling television program produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The show features a mix of wrestling matches, dramatic storylines, and larger-than-life characters. Superstars like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, and Becky Lynch have graced its ring, contributing to its status as one of the longest-running episodic television programs in history. “WWE Raw” showcases championship bouts, intense rivalries, and high-flying action, captivating wrestling fans with its blend of athleticism and entertainment.

Connected Media:

In addition to “Raw”, WWE launched “WWE SmackDown” as a second weekly show in 1999. Together, “Raw” and “SmackDown” both constitute the main storylines. Throughout the years, both shows have featured the same wrestlers some of the time, and other times (including currently), the roster has been split between the two shows with only slight crossover. Every few weeks, WWE holds a PLE (premium live event) exclusively on Peaco*ck, a modern version of the Pay-Per-View, which was the model they used up until a few years ago. Also, NXT airs on Tuesday nights, which is like the minor leagues of WWE, where new wrestlers build their skills. Add to that the numerous documentaries, films, and reality shows created by WWE and, well, you’ve got a lot to catch up on.

Where can I stream “WWE Raw”?

You can stream ALL of WWE’s content exclusively on Peaco*ck, where they have their own hub. However, as “Raw”, “NXT”, and “SmackDown” are all live shows that air on television first, new episodes are added to Peaco*ck a few weeks later.
